There are plenty of places you go to and you can grab a few free samples before you buy. It’s a great way to try something without investing in it before you know if you like it.
That’s what this person thought when they reached for some of this “free” chicken. The only problem is that it was only free because somebody already purchased it. It seems like this is one event that neither of them would forget.
Just Being Polite
Eye surgery would definitely leave you with blurry vision for a bit. Still, that wasn’t going to stop this person from doing what he loved.
On the other hand, it might have interfered with his relationship with mirrors. The good news is that he proved that he’s really polite. The only problem was that it seems like it was a waste of time, considering it went on for quite a while.

When you pop over to the corner store, there’s a variety of things you might pick up. Maybe you need road snacks or a bit of fuel for your car.
The latter is all this cashier was wondering about. However, given their other purchase, we can see why this person got a little bit confused. We can guess they didn’t need any gas for their car with that, though. They can’t forget, even 30 years later.
Wait Just a Minute!
Someone walking behind you down an aisle in the grocery store isn’t always concerning. This person noticed that this guy was definitely following them, though. If someone was following you through the store, you’d probably try to get away from them too.
However, this person realized there was a problem with the scenario. Namely, the other person just really wanted his groceries back. How long did this go on before they caught up with each other?
Not Sharing Everything
There are plenty of places to go to that have bar seating, and might have a bowl of nuts or pretzels out for people to snack on.
That’s why this person had no qualms about grabbing a handful without thinking. We’re sure they never did that again after this, though. Instead of a salty snack, they bit down on olive pits someone else already snacked on and spit out.
An Awkward Return
We’ve all been just about ready to leave somewhere, only to notice that we’ve left something behind. This person was just glad to notice before they left. It didn’t take long for them to wish they hadn’t.
What they grabbed was a pair of underwear, not a weight belt, and the underwear wasn’t theirs. We’re sure this made for an awkward conversation when they had to take them back to their true owner.
Kindness to Strangers
It’s always great to do something kind for a stranger. It seems like these two strangers worked together to turn a problem into something mutually beneficial. This person walked away feeling good about it.
That is, until they realized that the offer wasn’t really for them in the first place. Hey, as long as they paid her back like they said they did, it seems like it all worked out in the end.
Wrong Car
A road trip can be a great way to see the sights while you’re on a long trip. However, there are some downsides to it. For one, your vehicle likely doesn’t have a bathroom on board as a plane might.
That’s where rest stops come in handy. However, with so many cars coming and going out of these places, it can be easy to get a little mixed up. This woman just got a little confused and probably a bit embarrassed!
Not Quite as Intended
There are some people you’re excited to meet. A friend’s new baby often gets a lot of praise and attention when they join the group!
As many people do, this person just wanted to give the newest member of the friend group a warm greeting. Yet, they might have forgotten to assess the situation before they went in for a kiss. Hopefully, they were able to laugh off the mistake rather quickly.

There are some things that happen that just seem like a comedy of errors. There are some real cases where everything that can go wrong simply will. All this person wanted was to grab their umbrella.

There were few things that were as exciting as a kid as a pair of Heelys. Who could say no to gliding around when they’re dragged along to the grocery store? This person thought they had a great idea.
Why bother to stop every few steps to kick up some more speed when you can just tag along with a ride in your dad’s back pocket? Note to self – make sure you actually know the person before you grab their pocket.

When you’re at the store shopping around for new clothes, you probably want to fully check them out. That includes checking out the texture.
In the end, who wants to wear something uncomfortable? With the mannequin right there, this person thought they’d check out this jacket a bit more before making a decision. The only issue was that this wasn’t a sales rack and that wasn’t a mannequin at all.
Wrong Meeting
Going to camp for the first time with people you don’t know is intimidating. This camp found a way to let everyone meet up early!
This way they could make friends and get a little more comfortable before they committed to the whole camp. That is as long as you show up to the right picnic. It doesn’t seem like you’d meet too many people from camp at this random church picnic.
My Bag!
There are some things that you would hope someone would do for you. For example, if you forgot your bag, you’d want someone to help you out. That’s all this person really wanted to do.
The only problem was, they might have misjudged the situation a little bit. So, at the end of it all, they managed to throw someone else’s suitcase not only off the train but directly at another passenger.
Just Keep Going
We’ve all made this mistake before. You run up to a stranger, ready to greet them, thinking that they’re a friend you’re really excited to see.
When this person realized their mistake, they realized what they had to do. At that point, you have to commit to the bit and just keep looking for Trevor until you’re out of sight. On the bright side, it seems like they avoided an awkward conversation.

Hailing a cab is something you might do in the city pretty often without thinking. After all, it becomes common practice after a while.
However, you might want to make sure the car that slows down in front of you is actually a cab. The most shocking thing about this story is that the man actually took them to their destination. Did they still pay him for his help, at least?

When you keep running into someone doing the same activities, maybe it’s a sign you’re meant to be friends. So, these two decided to try their hand at it.
It wasn’t until much later that this person realized who they’d actually been talking to. Plus, that was only after a rather negative review of one of their new songs. That was something he wasn’t afraid to call out on stage.

When you’re out and about, sometimes you have to find somewhere to go at the last minute. This person was relieved to see a cafe and booked it to the bathroom.
Yet, there are a few things that cafes don’t usually offer. Does your local coffee shop have a toothbrush waiting for you? It turns out this person had just ducked into someone’s house – this wasn’t a coffee shop at all!

There are some mistakes you make that are of little consequence. This one seems like one that you wonder how you got away with. When this person was locked out of their car, they even got a few police officers to help get the car back home.
We guess they didn’t ask for any proof of ownership either. If they had, everyone might have noticed that they were dealing with someone else’s car! Talk about embarrassingly illegal!

There are some things that seem really helpful at the moment but, in reality, couldn’t be less helpful. It’s hard not to look at these moments and not feel it’s a bit embarrassing.
When this person saw their seatmate pressing buttons on a black screen, it seemed only logical that she was trying to figure out how to turn the thing on. Yet, they may have overlooked the increasingly common concept of a privacy screen.

There are some embarrassing moments that we can all relate to. For instance, grabbing someone’s hand in the store as a kid only to look up and realize it’s not your parent.

As for this person, they managed to tell someone that they’d never heard of Ireland, which probably surprised them a little bit. The only thing that stopped them was the pronunciation. It wasn’t until the next day that the embarrassment really set in.

Once again, we have to admit, few people can’t really say no to free food. So, are muffins out for customers to sample? That’s the best coffee shop experience you can hope for.
Still, you might want to take a second and double-check that what you’re taking is actually a free sample after a few embarrassing stories here. This story is grosser than anything, though. Few people want to eat the leftover bits from a stranger’s breakfast.
A Slight Advantage
Winning a race is always a thrill. However, some races are a little bit more unfair than others even if that’s not the intention.

This person thought they stumbled upon a great restaurant with even better food. At the end of her meal, of course, she took out her wallet to pay only to see that there was no cashier or waiter to take her card. However, there were a bride and groom celebrating their wedding.

Some bathrooms are more complicated than others. If you head over to a fancy place, you might find the bathrooms look a little more artistic than you might expect.
At first, this person didn’t know whether to be embarrassed for themselves or the person that walked in and started washing their hands in the toilet! It was only then that they realized their mistake and it’s one that they won’t forget anytime soon.
Forgot a Layer
When you aren’t sure how hot it’s going to be somewhere, there’s no better way to go than a t-shirt under a long-sleeved shirt. This woman planned ahead and was ready to beat the heat while they were watching a movie.

There are some people you naturally don’t want to scare or be mean to. Most of us don’t want to be mean to someone you might describe as a “nice old lady.” Actually, all this person wanted to do was grab a Lyft to work.
Unfortunately, it seems like the volume on their phone might not have been loud enough to catch a pretty important conversation. This old woman sure was new at this – she’d never planned to do it all!
Those Aren’t Yours
When you were a kid, you probably remember the beginning of school and spending time trying on pair after pair of shoes to find the right fit.
This person was just trying to find the perfect pair of shoes and wanted to try a pair they saw on the floor. It turned out there was a reason that they weren’t in a box in the first place. We’re sure they only grab shoes from the box now.
More Than Embarrassing
There are some things that are embarrassing but that’s not all. This memory probably also brings up a few feelings of disgust as well. Even just hearing about this memory is almost enough to make you gag, even if you weren’t there at all!
We would assume changing a diaper could make you lose your appetite but it’s not usually quite as bad as this. We’re not sure we’d eat peanut butter after this either.
Tricky Mirrors
You might not think about it but it would take a lot of coordination and timing for two people to play two separate pianos at the same time.
This person thought it was so cool, in fact, that he just had to share it with the person they were on a date with. That was when they realized there weren’t actually two people playing the piano. Mirrors can really play tricks on you sometimes.
I Can Explain!
There are some times that you really might not be sure if the laundry is clean or not. So, most people take a sniff, although you usually don’t want to do it in front of people.
That probably would have been embarrassing enough. However, the moment was made even worse when they weren’t even sniffing their own laundry but it was their roommates. Making things even worse, it was their roommate’s underwear.
Get Away From There!
If you saw people trying to break into your car, your instinct would probably be to scare them off. That’s exactly what this person did. Who would think two little old ladies would try to steal a car?
Well, these two actually wouldn’t. This person scared them away from their own car and got in, mistaking it for their own, similar car. Maybe it’s time to add a few recognizable bumper stickers.
Embarrassing for You, Terrifying for Them
Playing around in a pool is all fun in games when everyone has agreed to play. Otherwise, it would probably be pretty scary to have someone sneak up on you in the water.
This person thought they were having fun with their father. Instead, they probably terrified this man who was just trying to enjoy a swim. Being snuck up on is scary enough but being held underwater by a stranger, even a child, would be absolutely terrifying.

When you’re a kid, it seems like the sea of cars for sale on a lot is endless. Plus, it’s a chance to explore and what kid could say no? There’s a chance that this person explored a little too far.
It seems like they took the lie a little too far too if the other couple had time to drive away. How far did they let them drive before they announced their presence?
Just Thought it Was Free
There are few things that taste as good as ice cream. Really, the only thing that can make it better is if the ice cream is free.
We can’t blame this person for thinking that they had hit a gold mine when someone was handing out free ice cream in the park. They even waited patiently in line to get their ice cream. We can only hope that after this embarrassment they managed to get ice cream somewhere else.
Happy Bir- Nevermind
As a cakemaker, you probably make cakes for a lot of happy occasions. For instance, birthdays and weddings are likely big hits. That’s why this person assumed that they were expecting a birthday cake when they were discussing the cake.
Once the woman corrected her and told her what the cake was really for, it was one of those moments where you just want to walk away from the interaction right away.
How Could You?
When you’re a kid, it’s a lot harder to work out the reality of things. After all, you’re still learning about the world around you. This person was so angry as a toddler that their mother would possibly keep a picture of some strange baby on her dresser.
Where was the picture of them on the dresser? Well, it probably would have helped to know earlier that it was their own baby picture they were looking at.
Not Taking Any Chances
If you heard someone breaking into your home, it would be a terrifying moment. When you have the time, calling for help is a smart move.
We can’t really say that it would have been smarter to go out and explore the noise themselves. If it had been a burglar, something terrible could have happened! Still, it would have been embarrassing if help showed up only for you to then realize you left the TV on.
Bit of a Change
There are some places you know you can turn to when you need a public bathroom. This person found one place they could rely on for years.
Before they went in last time, they must have missed the “For Sale” sign on the hotel for a while. This is another person who managed to stroll right into someone else’s house. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they were caught in their mistake!

There are some mistakes that can have some real consequences. We’re just glad to hear that they realize this one fairly quickly. When you go to an event with your child, the expectation is often that you leave with them.
Usually, it’s concerning – if not illegal – to just grab someone else’s kid and go. However, embarrassing this was, we hope someone told that kid not to go with strangers after that!

We’ve all waved to someone who wasn’t waving to us or responded to a “hello” or two in someone else’s place. This person might have taken things to the next level.
Rather than a handshake, they went in for a full hug with this stranger before they were told that she wasn’t motioning toward them. We’d probably flee at that point, too.

When you do things over time, you probably don’t expect them to go on so long before someone has a question.
This person had been waving at the crossing guard for years now, so they were really confused when someone eventually asked them what they were doing. As it turns out, the crossing guard they made friends with wasn’t even a person at all. It seems like the glasses were the right choice.
Here’s Your Change
There are some things you say every day and you might not think about adding to the conversation. It’s like how a little kid who spends a lot of time at home and school might slip up and call a teacher “mom.”
This person was just trying to finish up a conversation with their fiancé before they checked out. However, it’s easy to get two conversations mangled when they happen back to back. So, the conversation with the cashier got a little more heartfelt than expected.

There are a lot of places that have little ways to help out a stranger. A “leave a penny, take a penny” jar is one small way businesses do this.
That’s what this person thought they had stumbled upon when they went to pay at this store in Germany. The only problem was they were actually trying to snag a few dollars from the tip jar. You can see why this would make the cashier want to stop them.
