Sometimes, celebs do things that are so unrelatable that they seem quite bizarre. Spending a fortune on a house would definitely qualify. It isn’t uncommon for ordinary people to roll their eyes when they hear what the newest hot celeb spent on their home. If you’ve got it, flaunt it, we suppose. However, so often, those ridiculously priced mansions don’t keep their value. Instead, their worth plummets.
Shaquille O’Neal’s Estate in Windermere, Florida
Imagine having a home that includes a garage oversized enough to park 17 cars and your own private dock. Well, that’s what Shaquille has had on the market since 2018. Initially, the property wasn’t as vast and luxurious, costing Shaquille only $4 million in 1993.

Over the years, Shaquille decided that bigger is better, and his home expanded to epic proportions. These days, the home is worth a jaw-dropping $28 million! Sadly, that is the kind of cash that people don’t just throw around, so the home hasn’t been sold yet.
Rachel Ray’s Estate in Southampton, New York
Rachel Ray has enjoyed great success with her career as a celebrity chef. While she can inspire others to try their hand at cooking, she wasn’t as inspiring when it came to selling her mansion in Southampton.

Sotheby’s International Realty
The star listed her 3,000-square-foot property for $4.5 million in 2017. While the property is beautiful, luxurious, and private, it is still just a three-bedroom, so we aren’t really shocked that it didn’t sell. In 2020, the star lowered the price to $3.25 million, and she finally got a buyer.
Mel Gibson’s Estate in Malibu, California
Mel Gibson is one of the world’s best-known actors, and he has enjoyed a very successful career that has spanned over decades. However, the actor didn’t enjoy the same success when it came to selling his Malibu estate. In fact, the home has been listed for more than a decade.

In 2010, Mel listed the 6,500 square foot estate for the first time, asking $14.5 million. Three years later, he had dropped his price by more than $3 million. While the home is absolutely gorgeous, there hasn’t been much interest. Experts are of the opinion that the area’s high property taxes are a big turn-off.
Antonio Banderas’ Apartment in Central Park, New York
Most New Yorkers dream of having an apartment in Central Park, but Antonio Bandera is most likely not one of them. The star has been trying to get rid of his apartment since 2018. After this separation from his former wife, Melanie Griffith, Banderas offered Griffith $4.4 million for the apartment.

Initially, the star listed the apartment at $7.45 million, but there was no interest. It’s likely that New Yorkers feel that the price is not justified for an apartment in such an iconic location.
The Coconut Grove, Owned by Alonzo Mourning
The NBA star committed to creating his dream estate, The Coconut Grove, from 1996 to 2009. While the sports star spent a lot of effort, time, and money to build the estate into a pristine luxury resort, he sold it for only $6 million.

RoseHarrisGroup.com // Sotheby’s International Realty
The property stretches for more than 13,000 square feet and includes a massive swimming pool, epic garden areas, and luxurious rooms. All of these features make the property worth $12 million.
John Krasinski and Emily Blunt’s Home in Brooklyn, New York
When it comes to power couples that make us believe in love that lasts forever, these two have us drawing hearts in our dreams. Both of the actors have been hugely successful on screen, but they have discovered that winning at the realtor game doesn’t come naturally.

The couple purchased their Slope Park home for $6 million in 2016. A year later, the couple hoped to sell the 5,200 square foot home for $8 million. After many months without any interest, the couple lowered the price to $6.8 million, and it sold within a year.
Michael Jordan’s Estate in Illinois, Chicago
Not even a free pair of vintage Air Jordans could convince people to check out this property, and believe it or not, Michael tried enticing prospective buyers with that deal. The problem, however, is that there are no prospective buyers. Why not, you might wonder.

Well, the initial asking price was $29 million, which was described as ludicrous for a property in Illinois, experts said. Since then, Michael has been willing to take a $15 million loss and listed the property for $14 million while promising to add the rare shoes. Still, there have been zero takers.
Billy Joel’s Mansion in Palm Beach, Florida
Everyone knows that Billy Joel is music royalty, so it might be surprising to hear that the star has been struggling to sell his home in Palm Beach for nearly a decade. The megastar listed his 10,000 square foot property for $20 million in 2015.

After having no success in more than a year, the star began dropping the price. Today, he’s asking $11 million, which is nearly half of what he initially listed it for. The star has even included the furniture. It seems that not even a piano owned by the Piano Man himself can make this property sell.
Alan Wilzig’s Townhouse in New York City
Fans of the movie The Wolf of Wall Street might recognize the name Alan Wilzig. That’s because Leonardo Dicaprio’s character was based on him. The businessman might have been a machine at getting ahead in the business world, but selling townhouses is a different story.

Alan listed his New York townhouse in 2014 for $44 million. While the property is 6,500 square feet in size, the home is still just a townhouse, so it isn’t surprising that there were no big fish to take the bait. Since then, he has lowered the price to $18 million. It remains to be seen whether he’ll be successful in securing a buyer.
Kathy Griffin’s Estate in Bel Air
The well-known comedian told the world that she had found her dream home in 2016. Four years later, her dream home was up for sale, and the star has been trying to sell it ever since. While no one can deny that the property has a wow factor, the price isn’t as attractive.

The Bel Air mansion has eight bedrooms, 12 bathrooms, a theater, an infinity pool, two walk-in closets, and a glorious wine cellar, but it costs a stiff $16 million. Two stars from the reality realtor TV show Million Dollar Listing LA have been trying to get the property sold.
Steve Cohen’s Penthouse in Manhattan
Any fan of the reality TV show Million Dollar Listing New York knows that the prices of property in Manhattan are through the roof. However, this number might just blow your mind. Steve is a hedge fund manager with a net worth of $14 billion. It’s safe to say that Steve knows his hedge fund business. However, selling Manhattan penthouses might not be his strong suit.

Steve put his five-bedroom penthouse up for sale in 2013 for a jaw-dropping $115 million. A year later, he dropped the price to $98.9 million, and later, he dropped the price even more. Eventually, the property was listed at $57.5 million, which is exactly half what he had hoped for. Even so, the property remains untouched.
Brendan Fraser’s Home in Beverly Hills
Brendan quickly became a household name in the late ’90s, thanks to The Mummy franchise. Before disappearing from the spotlight, the star bought a gorgeous mansion in Beverly Hills in 1996. He paid $4.25 million for the 9,000-square-foot property, which is simply stunning.

Rodeo Realty // Paul Barnaby of Total Agent
Brendan lived there until 2017, and he listed the property the same as his initial price. However, he took a loss when it sold for $4.01 million. The property is unique because it comes with a professional photography room, making it ideal for photographers who enjoy a lot of luxury.
Helen Hunt’s Makeover Estate in Hollywood Hills
The famous actress and director isn’t one to shy away from a great project, and this 4,000 square foot home was one of her most iconic projects. She bought the land in 1997 that had formerly been owned by Hollywood star Errol Flynn and quickly had Errol’s house removed.

Sotheby’s International Realty // Nathanael Williams
Helen designed and oversaw the construction of her dream home, but interestingly, she had never lived in it. After the mansion was complete, she listed it at $9 million. However, there were no takers, and she had to drop the price by a million to sell it.
Joey Lawrence’s Estate in Encino, California
Joey became a household name in the ’90s with hit sitcoms like Blossom and Joe. The child star was destined for fame and fortune from a young age. While he has enjoyed great success in his career, his luck with property hasn’t been that great.

Joey bought a stunning property in Encino in 1994 for $1.2 million. Compared to today’s property prices, that might not sound like much for a house with a movie theater, multiple saunas, and an unforgettable swimming pool. However, that was a steep amount in the ’90s. In 2010, Joey listed the property for $3.2 million but hasn’t had any luck yet.
Steve Wynn’s Mansion in Las Vegas
Have you ever wondered how much the most expensive home in Las Vegas ever was? Well, wonder no longer because we have the answer. Steve Wynn’s home was listed at $25 million in 2020, taking the title of the most expensive listing in the area.

While Wynn never shared the initial price of the property, he has admitted to spending more than $16 million on renovations. For $25 million in Las Vegas, you get a prime property with sensational views of a golf course, a spa, a movie theater, and a gym.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s Mansion in Leiper’s Fork, Tennessee
When it comes to country megastars, this couple is royalty. In fact, their net worth is $135 million! Therefore, it isn’t all that surprising that the couple lived on a huge estate that was valued at $20 million. The problem came in when the couple wanted to sell the property.

While the property is massive and gorgeous, it is located in a tiny town that has only 650 residents. The town has a church, a restaurant, and a distillery… but that’s pretty much where it ends. The town isn’t exactly a lucrative investment area, and so, even after lowering the price several times, the home is still up for grabs.
Tori Spelling’s Mansion in Encino, California
The star has made a successful career by appearing on TV shows. From 2007 to 2011, her home was also featured in the show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood. Fans of the show got to enjoy beautiful peeks of what the house looked like. However, once the show ended, the house went up for sale.

LA Galaxy player Jermaine Jones bought the home from Spelling for $2.5 million. Six years later, Jermaine listed the home for $4.5 million, upping the price he paid by $2 million. Was the increase justified? Jermaine seemed to think so because the star added a lot of great finishing touches to the home.
Rihanna’s Estate in Beverly Hills
This magnificent property caught the megastar’s eye in 2009, and she bought it for just under $7 million. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the home sweet home that she was hoping for. Instead, the house had constant issues with leaking, driving Rihanna to regret her purchase.

Rihanna became so sick and tired of the home’s problems that she took a loss and sold it for just over $5 million. Since then, the house has been fixed and renovated, and today it’s worth more than $22 million.
Penelope Cruz’s Home in LA, California
Cruz and her husband bought a gorgeous three-bedroom estate in the nook of Hollywood Hills in 2010. They paid $3.695 million for the splendid mansion. However, when they tried to sell the home in 2012, they had to drop the price to $2.88 million.

Experts said that there was no interest at the initial listing price because the housing taxes in Hollywood Hills are so high. The home would have cost nearly $50,000 more, which is a large number for a three-bedroom home.
Sylvester Stallone’s Home in La Quinta, California
While the house has great curb appeal and draws the eyes with its elegant mix of Mediterranean and Tuscan design, we can’t help but think that Sylvester overpaid initially. In 2010, Stallone paid $4,5 million for the house. Considering the fact that it’s a four-bedroom house, it was likely that he would take a loss on the home.

That’s precisely what happened. In 2014, Stallone listed the home at the same price. After a year of being on the market, he relisted the home at $3.85 million. In 2020, he tried his luck again, listing the house just below $4 million. Was it third time lucky for Stallone? Unfortunately, not.
Britney Spears’ Home in Beverly Hills
Most people know that Britney Spears has had quite an interesting life. After her very public breakup with Kevin Federline, the superstar bought this gorgeous home in Beverly Hills to escape from it all. Her escape plan cost her nearly $7 million.

Christopher Amitrano // Courtesy of Douglas Elliman
Five years later, Spears decided to sell the house, but no one was willing to pay that much for a six-bedroom house. In the end, Spears lost almost $5 million on the house. Interestingly enough, the current owner put the house on the market for nearly $9 million.
The Former Estate of Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston in Beverly Hills, California
Most of us still remember the time when the world went crazy for ‘Brannifer,’ the blossoming romance between Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. After getting married in 2000, the couple bought a gorgeous mansion in Beverly Hills and upscaled it even more.

Sadly, their marriage didn’t last, and the property was sold to an executive for an eyebrow-raising $44,5 million. Yikes! The property has been on the market for years with very little interest. Name-dropping only goes so far, we suppose.
The Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas
This is a pretty unusual case where the home is the celebrity instead of its owner. The Sallie House is quite iconic in Kansas because of its history. In fact, it’s the most well-known haunted house in Kansas. As a result, it was purchased for more than $1 million.

While the owners have made money by renting the house out at $125 per person per night, they haven’t managed to get the house to sell. In 2018, they tried to sell the house at the same price they paid for it, but there were no takers. It seems a haunted house isn’t a strong magnet in the realtor market.
Tom Cruise’s Mansion in Telluride, Colorado
Selling a house for $58 million seems to be mission impossible, and we think Tom Cruise will agree. The megastar tried to sell his outstanding mansion, which lies just outside of Telluride, in 2014 at that price. No surprise, it didn’t sell.

Cruise relisted the unforgettable property once after that, and there were no changes. The property is magnificent, stretching over 10,000 square feet, and it includes its own mini helipad, horse stables with riding trails, and a home that’s exquisitely enhanced with a hardwood interior.
Kanye West’s Ranch in Wyoming
Imagine calling the ranch that inspired West for his fashion label and album home. Well, you can if you’re willing to fork out $11 million. That’s a steal since the property is actually worth $14 million because of its close proximity to Yellowstone and its 4,000-acre size.

Kayne placed the property on the market in 2021 at a lower-than-real value cost in an attempt to get it to sell quickly. It hasn’t happened for the star yet, despite the property offering sensational views of the Rocky Mountains.
Tommy Hilfiger’s Estate in Greenwich, Connecticut
What can you get for $48 million these days? Well, you can get a castle owned by a world-renowned fashion designer. Originally known as the Chateau Paterno, the estate was completed in 1939. Before Tommy bought it, the property belonged to an art collector called Joseph Hirshhorn, who showcased thousands of sculptures and paintings in the mansion.

In 2020, Tommy listed the property for sale through Sotheby’s International at $48 million. Since then, the price has gone down to $47,5 million, but it remains unsold. It seems that knocking off half a million isn’t enough to sell this mega-mansion.
Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn’s Beach Getaway Home in Malibu, California
These two celebs need no introduction because they have been on our screens since the ’90s. The couple has enjoyed a long and lasting relationship, but they haven’t been as lucky when it comes to selling property. In fact, they have been trying to sell their beach house since 2011.

Imagine asking $95,000 for a month’s rent. Well, that’s what the couple did prior to 2011. The monthly rental of this gorgeous estate on Broad Beach, Malibu, was very lucrative. However, the couple has been hoping to sell the property for nearly $15 million since 2011.
Kelly Clarkson’s Home in Henderson, Tennessee
Not only has Kelly dropped the home’s price from nearly $9 million to $7,5 million, but there has been no genuine interest in the property. The reason might be the sheer size of the estate. Does anyone in Tennessee really need a home with eight bedrooms and ten bathrooms?

Kelly bought this 20,000 square foot estate after becoming a very successful singer and talk show host. However, the property has been on the market since 2020, and even with the reduced price, it still remains unsold.
Jennifer Lopez’s Mansion in LA, California
Everyone who knows the superstar knows that J.Lo can be described as a diva, so it’s only natural that she owns a home that matches her needs. Her mansion in Los Angeles has nine bedrooms, a gym, a dance studio, a recording studio, a private theater – and, of course, a dressing room fit for Hollywood royalty.

While the home is exquisite, Jennifer has been struggling to get it off the market. Since 2015, she has lowered the price from $17 million to $12.5 million, and there was still zero interest. Lopez owns several properties but hopes to sell this one someday.
Chelsea Handler’s Estate in LA, California
Even though Chelsea made her fortune by making people laugh, the amount she’s hoping to get for her home is no laughing matter. This gorgeous home is everything you’d expect from a home in Los Angeles, complete with a picture-perfect pool.

Unfortunately for the comedian and talk show host, the property has been on the market since 2020. Chelsea has even lowered the price from $11.5 million to just under $11 million, and there are still no takers. Tough crowd, Chelsea.
Mel B’s Mansion in LA, California
The Spice Girls enjoyed worldwide fame with their catchy tunes and great dance routines. However, Scary Spice hasn’t had the easiest time since the band split up. In 2014, she bought a 9,000-square-foot mansion in LA with her then-husband.

Sadly, the couple split up, and the house was listed at $9 million in 2017. However, the house didn’t sell, and Mel B was eager to move on with her life. Over the next two years, Mel B lowered the price several times, finally selling at $5.5 million.
Melanie Griffith’s Ski Lodge in Aspen, Colorado
While many skiing enthusiasts might love the idea of having their own ski lodge, most can’t afford to splash out $10 million to get their hands on one. After her breakup with Antonio Banderas, Melanie put her 7,300 square feet lodge on the market, but there was no interest.

Since the star was in a rush to get rid of the property and move on with her life, she took a massive loss, accepting less than half the price that she initially listed for. In the end, the buyer paid $4.3 million.
A Kentucky Horse Farm Belonging to Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp is a celebrity who needs no introduction. The star owns a horse farm that is nearly 6,000 square feet. The farm is gorgeous, and the stunning farm home, complete with six bedrooms, has been listed since 2017.

While Depp listed the property at only $3 million, the upkeep of the animals and property is expensive, so the farm hasn’t been sold yet. However, Depp seems adamant that the price shouldn’t be lowered.
Kevin Jonas’ Mansion in Montville, New Jersey
Thanks to the fame of The Jonas Brothers, we know that Kevin Jonas can sing and dance. However, most people don’t know he is a successful realtor. Most realtors have at least one property in their career that they struggle to sell, and for Kevin, it was his own home in New Jersey.

Courtesy of NJLux // ColdWell Banker Reality
Kevin began his efforts to sell his 7,000-square-foot property in 2017, but there was no interest. After more than a year, the star lowered the price to $2.5 million, and it sold pretty quickly. At least it was a win in the end, even if it was less than he expected.
Joe Pesci’s Estate in New Jersey
The actor has enjoyed a long and successful career playing someone who doesn’t take nonsense from anyone. He also doesn’t play around when it comes to property prices. In 2019, Pesci listed his home for $6.5 million.

The home is the most expensive on the Jersey Shore, which is probably why it still hasn’t been sold years later. We suppose that Pesci isn’t willing to drop his price, so now it’s a waiting game.
Lori Loughlin’s Mansion in Bel Air, California
The TV star seemed to have it all – a wonderful husband, beautiful children, and a home that most people would die for. However, it all came crashing down with the college application scandal. Lori’s husband decided to list their beautiful property for $35 million, but it was too late.

No one wanted to be associated with Lori in any way, so after waiting a long time for an interested buyer, the couple settled on $18.75 million. Justin Mateen, the co-founder of the dating app Tinder, was the buyer.
Pharrell’s Estate in Beverly Hills, California
In 2020, the superstar gave his fans an unforgettable glimpse into this massive mansion. Fans were overjoyed to see how incredible the megastar’s home was. However, when the 17,000 square foot home was listed for $16.95 million later that same year, there was zero interest.

Since then, Pharrell has lowered his price to $14 million, and there has yet to be an offer. While the home is breathtakingly beautiful, experts suggest that its high-tech vibe isn’t for everyone.
George Strait’s Estate in San Antonio, Texas
If you’ve been wondering what it would cost you to own a luxurious mansion owned by country royalty that stretches for 7,000 square feet, we can help you. In 2020, George Strait listed his gorgeous mansion for $10 million.

Unfortunately for George, the property didn’t sell, and it’s still available today. These days, the property is listed at a lower price of only $8.9 million. The home is stunning, private, and extraordinary.
Eva Longoria’s Mansion in LA, California
You know you’ve made it in Hollywood when you’re buying your home from Tom Cruise. Eva forked out a whopping $14 million for this gorgeous home that’s practically a skip and a hop from Mulholland Drive. Did she regret the purchase?

Two years after buying the four-bedroom home from Cruise, Eva decided to sell it. Unfortunately, the home’s limited bedroom space meant that the initial value would not be matched, and she took a loss of close to $5 million. It’s safe to say that she had buyer’s remorse.
Adam Lambert’s Bachelor’s Pad in Hollywood, California
The American Idol star has enjoyed massive success touring the world with rock icon band Queen. Adam has a net worth of $22 million. He listed his bachelor pad for $4 million in 2017, but there wasn’t any interest.

Over the next few years, Lambert lowered his asking price to $3.5 million and later to $2.9 million. Eventually, in 2020, he sold the 3,000-square-foot property, losing nearly $80,000 on what he initially paid.
